August 14, 2008 Meeting
Hi Everyone, I'm glad you stopped by to check out our Newsletter. We had a great meeting this month and got a lot of business taken care of. Randall Parker, President, Jenny Ingmire, Vice-President, Donna Gains, Treasurer, and myself, Paula Wilde, standing in as Secretary, where present.
The meeting was called to order and the Pledge of Allegiance was given. the Treasurers report was made and the checks where approved that where to be presented to the girls that had gone to the 4-H Horse Camp. Susan Martin passed out the St. Jude's Ride items.
New News-Kim from Florel Farms was present and the Fun Show was discussed. The date of Oct. 18th with the rain date of Oct.19 was agreed to.Several classes where discussed. A costume class was suggested since it's so close to Halloween with the idea of making it a $5.00 entry fee with a 50/50 payback to be a separate class from the regular events. Time 10:30 AM until done.
The Family ride for this month was held at Buck Bald in Tennessee. There where 20 of us, if I counted correctly. We met at the Hot Spot and took the scenic drive out to the place where we parked the trailers.Ha! Ha! Everyone that went will know what I'm talking about. It was a bit of an overcast day so it wasn't quite so hot but it made visibility not so good on top but it was still beautiful. We stopped at the top and had lunch.
Next month's ride was discussed and agreed to. It will be at Whetstone on the 2nd Saturday, Sept. 13th meeting at the Ingles in Hiawassee by 9:30 AM for a possible 4 to 5 hour ride.. Several people will be camping so if you would like to join in the fun be sure and check with Susan Martin .
Martha Scissom and Carol Jones won the door prizes.
Several people are considering going to East Fork on Sept. 18th, 19th and 20th, if your interested E-mail me and I'll find out more info for you.
Martha made the announcement that Dr.Caudell is having a first aid for horses clinic Sept. 13th at Shiloh stables, $25.00 entry fee. He will also be having first aid kit's for sale, these are $200.00, Martha thought that was the correct price.
The yard Sale at Chip's, Mountain Valley Country Store was discussed. Would it be donations to the club or to rent spaces/tables and you could sell your own stuff. With the Club possibly selling hot dog and burgers. The date to hold the Yard Sale was tentatively set for Nov. 1st from 8AM until noon.
